How many people have you heard tell you that when they or their mate is going through PMS that their relationship suffers? While a woman's menstrual cycle is a part of nature, it is not normal or nature that causes a lot of women to damage their relationship during this time, yet many women do it. PMS and hormonal issues are not an excuse for poor behavior and if you or someone that you know is dealing with this, you should work to put it to an end.

Many women are taken off guard by how much they struggle emotionally with PMS. Obviously when you are not feeling 100% it is going to affect your interactions with other people. The great thing about PMS is that it is predictable in that it comes at about the same time every month, which will allow you to plan ahead for the emotional struggles. Because you can plan ahead for PMS it doesn't need to impact your relationship negatively.

Those who are in a relationship where PMS wears away at the very foundation of the relationship should know that PMS is not an excuse to treat another person poorly or to be treated poorly. Instead of accepting this as something that just is, you need to make moves to change the behavior or the pattern of behavior that presents itself this time of month.

For women who are suffering, you need to talk to your doctor. Sometimes a birth control pill or even a mild antidepressant can help you deal with the hormonal changes that cause emotional changes. This will allow you to continue to live your life and enjoy your relationship, even in those days before you begin menstruating. There are a lot of options, so be sure to talk to your doctor about how you can better your life.

If you are on the receiving end of poor treatment related to PMS you need to stop tolerating it. Let your girlfriend or wife know that you are sorry that they don't feel well, but that you are not going to be their whipping post anymore. Let them know that you need them to get help or that you cannot continue to be in a relationship with them.

If you are suffering from PMS you need to tell the people in your life what is going on. Many times the people around you aren't sure what is going on, so in the days leading up to when you usually struggle, be honest about it. If you are honest people will have more understanding and empathy and it will possibly help you overcome your struggles with a bit more ease.

The point is that PMS is not an excuse to treat people poorly or to settle for being treated poorly. There are options out there that will allow the person suffering from PMS to learn how to deal with their struggles in a much better manner so that they can go on with their life in a more constructive manner. PMS is very real for a lot of people, but it doesn't have to affect their life and the lives of the people around them in such a profound manner.
