At the top of eyelet designed curtains, you will find metal edged holes which usually have silver colour coating. The length of the curtains is generally down to the floor and the pleats of the curtains run vertically. Either light or medium weights of fabrics can be used for this style of curtains depending on your choice, interior design styles and utility requirements.
Hanging the curtains couldn't be simpler, insert a curtain rod through these eyelets and hey presto instant window dressing! The other option is to put curtain rings in to the each hole and then place the curtain around the rod, however this can cause them not to hang as neatly.
These curtains do not need as much fabric as is needed for traditional curtains as they have do not have as many pleats or folds, as such they are an ideal choice irrespective of your fit budget. This modern design and style of curtains add new dimensions to the decor of any room.
As this type of curtains comes as 'ready-made' they are becoming a fashionable alternative window dressings in both modern and contemporary interior styles of home. For those who are adept at making their own window treatments it is possible to easily make this style of curtain from whatever design of fabric you choose! But the easier option is to buy them ready to unwrap and hang!
Voile curtains with an eyelet top are a modern alternative to net curtains, enabling light to enter the room in a diffused way, more especially if you opt for white or ivory colours. Slightly heavier fabrics such as faux silk or organza are ideal for bedrooms as these offer a sensuous and a light airy romanticism. If light pollution is a problem at night it is possible to have the curtains lined, and whilst this may detract from the airy, breezy look, the curtains are still a great alternative to more traditional styles of curtains in contemporary interiors.
Curtains with an eyelet heading are also perfect for using as a quick and easy way to make a modern style of four poster bed. Once you have the framework, in either wood or metal, as with the curtains poles you can simply thread the eyelets through to transform your bedroom into fashionable chic style effortlessly!
Whether you use these styles of curtains and window dressings or to make bed canopies there are wide ranges of colours, plain and patterned styles to choose from. Opt for those which have a faux suede side strip or bottom band in a contrasting colour to the main body of fabric to add texture and style to any room in your home. Many of the ready-made curtains are available with matching or coordinating accessories to give your rooms a cohesive and balanced appearance.
Eyelet curtains are usually opened to each side of the window frame, however the lighter fabrics can also be swept open from the centre and held in place with tie backs. The poles you choose are also an essential part of making your windows look stunning. As the eyelet curtains have a silver or bronzed effect, metal poles are a great choice, which can further be enhanced by beautiful, stylish end finials to add the all important finishing touches which transform plain and ordinary into stunning elegance. |
