Many people suffer injuries, be it at work, playing sports or just through freak occurrence, and many people overlook their entitlements when suffering personal injury. Many people feel that what happened, happened and they should just get on with their lives. That's all well and good and is an example to those who have brought upon the use of the phrase 'blame culture', those who make claims and sue for whatever they can, but if you're within your rights to make a valid compensation claim then why not attain what you're entitled to?
Taxes and insurance policies have risen in the past decade due to the detriment of people making more compensation claims and suing more than ever before. Slogans such as 'where there's blame, there's a claim' and 'no win, no fee' have become irritating to many people, largely because it was rammed down our throats as 'blame culture' evolved into a billion pound industry almost overnight.
People started suing their friends when falling off a chair at a dinner party, there was even one story of a father suing the church when his daughter was passed over for the right for senior chorister status! These people took blame culture to another level, but that should never deter anybody from seeking compensation when they rightly deserve it.
Many people suffer personal injury at work and occupational claims are becoming more and more common, mainly due to many companies neglecting their health and safety obligations. One of the most common personal injury to occur at work are caused by slipping or tripping on wet or unsafe surfaces. These can of course be avoided by taking due care and attention of any spilt liquids and also making repairs to damaged areas which therefore become dangerous.
If someone endures a personal injury due to working in an unsafe environment then they will be more than entitled, and within their rights, to contact a personal injury lawyer to act on their behalf and seek compensation.
A familiar work related injury these days is repetitive strain injury, or RSI as it is better known. Those who perform computer related work suffer most from RSI - overusing your fingers and arms can cause damage to the tissues which can be extremely painful. One way in which many companies look to combat RSI is by providing cushioned mouse mats with an incorporated ledge with which to rest your wrist and also to offer keyboard hand rests, but the best way to prevent RSI for those working with computers is to allow for regular breaks away from the desktop.
So personal injury claimants aren't all scammers, blaggers and moaners - many have legitimate reasons to claim compensation so we should never hold that against anyone, but as with many different walks of life, there are a minority who feel the need to bleed an industry dry and work the system to their favour: personal injury lawyers or claimants should not be vilified for this. |
