Whether you have a separate dinning room, a kitchen or lounge diner re-vamping and decorating on a small budget can be achieved easily and quickly!
If the walls are in need of painting choose neutral colours which will blend effortlessly with dining furniture of any style or colour. Colour therapists say that colours such as red are great for evoking the mood for eating and increasing appetites!
As such beautiful strawberry or tomato red would be a great colour to chose if you have a large dinning room. Bright colours can make small rooms feel very claustrophobic and even smaller than they are, so if you have a small dining space opt for softer tones of red or cool orange shades.
Modern and contemporary homes are predominately white in this years interior designs which enables you to inject a bright colour via the dining table and chairs, window dressings or rugs.
There is no need to spend money on a new table or chairs, opt to paint them in duck egg blue or pastel colours for an informal and chic look. Chair covers are also in-vogue, this is where the entire chair is wrapped in fabric and tied with matching or coordinating bows to create an elegant country style and feel.
If you are adept at re-vamping old furniture chairs which have cloth seats can easily be transformed with trendy fabrics to coordinate with the new wall colour! Make a matching table runner to bring a sense of cohesion to the room.
Mix and match fabrics and textures to create a homely ambience, beautiful pastel shades are a great way to make a dining area feel light and airy. Floral mixed with checks and stripes are a great way to bring a friendly atmosphere.
For a larger dinning room opulent rich colours such as green and red can be used. Alternatively the revival of wall paper is becoming increasingly trendy and a great way to transform a room.
Have stripped floors in both traditional and modern homes. For a cheap alternative floorboards which are too shabby and marked to be trendy can be painted in a gorgeous contrasting colour to bring a whole new look to the room. Many older homes have wonderful parquet flooring which has been covered by carpeting, reveal these and spend time bringing them back to their natural beauty which will take a time, but the end results will be well worth the effort! If you are not up to undertaking this task yourself there are restorers who will provide a professional finish, but at a cost!
If you have a large window dress it with gorgeous curtains hung from wood or metal curtain poles. Sweep these back from the centre and hold in place with tassel style tie backs to re-create the Victorian look.
Cottage style windows can also be dressed with gingham, floral or striped curtains which can also be hung from curtain poles. Try tying pretty bows from contrasting ribbon rather than using curtain rings for a quaint and charming look! If you were to use the same ribbon on the chairs the whole room will come together and look extremely stylish! |
