Rather than do a complete overhaul on an entire room you can create sumptuous interiors on a budget, many achievable to be completed within a weekend.
May sound daunting, but with some useful hints and tips most inspirational ideas are very achievable. So remember back to your Blue Peter days and get out some glue, scissors and start transforming your house into a warm and very unique living space!
Kitchens
One of the easiest ways to smarten up a kitchen is to re-vamp the tiles above the work counter. This can be achieved by buying stick-on motifs which can be randomly placed to perk up the look. Alternatively change the grubby grouting by scraping it out and replacing with the latest bright coloured grouts such as red or blue. This affect looks stunning and although a tedious job the end result are well worth the effort!
Old kitchen cupboards can have the doors replaced, however this can become quite expensive, a budget alternative is to paint them! Specialist paints are widely available which will coat all types of cupboard surfaces. This is another quite time consuming job however the end results can be stunning. By simply changing the door handles a completely new look can be achieved.
De-clutter! This will not cost a penny but can transform your kitchen into a organised living space to be proud of! Arrangements look far nicer than an unorganised mess! Make space on shelves for your cookery books to add stylish chic.
Have kitchen utensils hung from trendy rods which can brought inexpensively, if you like to improvise tension poles, the type that you can hang net curtains on can become useful items when used between cupboards at varying heights. The key is not to try and hang anything too heavy on them or they will simply collapse! They are ideal fro tying bunches of herbs to add a chic and trendy look to your kitchen.
Changing the kitchen curtains is another way to spruce up the look. Change drab and shabby curtains for inexpensive sleek Venetian blinds which will not only provide you with privacy they will also enable an abundance of natural light into the kitchen when pulled right up to the top of the window.
Alternatively change net curtains for new cafe style curtains threaded onto tension poles in gold or silver colour finishes. To look authentic only use cafe curtains to cover the bottom half of your windows.
Country kitchen looks can be achieved by using bright gingham curtains held in place with neat bows. A table runner made from the same fabric or in a complimentary colour and texture is a great way to add stylish chic to your kitchen! Mix floral fabrics with checks and stripes for an eclectic mix of colours.
Rather than replace kitchen chairs or stools simply paint white or trendy duck egg blue to team with the curtains or window blinds. With a wide range of wonderful bright new colours available or the very latest perforated metal blinds, kitchens can easily be brought up to date without having to spend a fortune on window dressings. |
