Bay windows are a more common feature of older homes and have always been a favourite among home owners for their exceptional design proportions and features.
However, since most of the older homes had such problems of little insulation, bay windows decorated with curtains and other window accessories always helped in reducing the problems of draught and heat loss.
In order to enhance the appearance of your bay windows, it is advisable to not consider it as individual window because this will make it look cluttered and lose its lovely design features. Consider it as one entire unit.
Bay windows are mostly decorated with a curtain pole, track, or rod that follows the window line. In case you want more privacy in the room, then you can consider going for sheer fabrics.
However, for rooms with a bay window it wouldn't be a nice option to cover the refreshing outside view or to avoid keeping your room warm during cold nights, but if privacy is a problem sometimes you have no other option other than using traditional net curtains or blinds in conjunction with the curtains.
So, the best way to decorate bay windows is using floor-length curtains that can be hung from a pole, track, or rod mounted at the ceiling. These curtains can be drawn to either window side.
In case you wish to have some variation or simply don't have a fixing area for the ceiling-mounted track, then the window wall itself can be used as the curtain line. This means using the regular curtain poles, however, these can only be used with bay windows with a low ceiling.
You can opt for a window pelmet if you feel like hiding the curtain pole. Selecting extremely dark coloured roman blinds simply makes the bay window lose its exceptional design form in most instances. Window valance and curtains, however, always work well and complement the space and appearance of bay windows very effectively.
While planning to enhance the appearance of your bay window, it is equally crucial to consider curtain designs that can best complement the bay window and the decor of the room. Graceful velvet curtains give a rich and dignified look to your window as well as room.
A rich velvet curtain for your bay window can easily offer a soft and elegant touch to the room and help you achieve an imitate appearance when they are drawn.
You can use a variety of ideas to enhance the appearance of your bay windows. By either using the more traditional curtain tracking. However, bay window curtain poles can do a great deal to further enhance the beauty of the window.
The correct diameter of pole plays a huge role when it comes to getting the curtains hanging properly and stylishly as the weight of the fabric can affect the fall and folds of curtains. Decorating your bay windows with the correct curtain poles needs to be your first priority in achieving a gorgeous look to the window. Opt for traditional wood or choose one of the latest metal design styles to compliment the style of your room. Careful selection of the end finials can further enhance the beauty of the poles and windows. |
