These days, poles for hanging curtains are well-designed, practical and functional as well as being a great focal point in your room. Like poles, curtain headings are also available in different designs.
Pencil pleats give a traditional look while tab top and eyelet tops better suit rooms with a modern decor style. Today, countless online stores offer an exciting range of designs in poles for curtains to suit the interior design style of your home.
You can either buy a complete pole kit or choose poles and accessories separately. In a complete pole kit you are supplied with every thing related to curtain accessories such as brackets and rings according to the dimensional size of the pole. Some brands also offer extra holdbacks and rings in their kits.
If you are finding it difficult to select proper curtain accessories because your widows have a different size and design, then you may need to buy individual poles and accessories for each window. Some guidelines have been given below to make it easier for you to select the best design for best results:
1. Selection of Brackets:
Usually, 2x-side brackets are used for the poles. Longer poles, more than 180cm in length would require a bracket at the centre and would also need a connector. The flexible corners of the bay windows need passing brackets for conjunction.
These brackets give more support to the curtains. Moreover, while in use, their passing rings make the movement of the curtain easy and free. Poles with more than 25mm or 19mm of length need double brackets. These brackets are easily available from the retailers.
2. Selection of the Holdbacks and the Finials:
Curtain accessories such as holdbacks and finials give you a chance to add your personal touch to your windows. The appearance of your windows will speak your taste. These accessories give you an excellent opportunity to explore different dramatic and unusual looks for your windows and enhance the window's appearance in your room.
3. Selection of the Curtain Rings:
All curtain accessory kits offer curtain rings in accordance with the pole offered. The length of the pole is divided by 10 cm and this number is the number of rings provided in the kit. This is because it is always appropriate to have a curtain ring every 10cm of the pole to ensure the curtains hang correctly when drawn closed.
4. Selection of the Pole:
Length-wise, poles are available in three sizes; 120cm,150cm, and 180cm. The length of your curtain pole should be such that it can conveniently allows drawing the curtains from one window side to another. For longer windows, metal poles will need a connector to join them and they can be cut for a smaller window. Wooden poles need a double end screw to fix them.
To make sure that you buy the right size of curtain poles for your windows.Take accurate measurements of the external window casing and allow sufficient space either end, to enable the curtains to frame the side edges of the window. |
